Default Shoulders before chest? - 03-26-2012, 05:21 PM

Hey guys!! Quick queston here. Considering the people in my gym think that their chest is the only muscle in their bodies its hard for me to get a complete workout. Would there be any drawbacks in working out shoulders on monday and hitting chest on thursday?

That's enough space although I'd prefer it in reverse order.

I prefer chest first also, Rick. But it's nearly impossible to workout chest mon-wed. Every bench is taken up. It's so fustrating.

I feel your pain on every bench being taken up. It seems like they are full everyday!

It's fine, I do chest one day and arms (including shoulders) 2 days later. Then I do chest again 3 days after that. No problems here.

Tell me more about this rule about working from top to bottom. I've never heard that is over 30 years of lifting.

I suggest that you do a consistent routine where you focus on a set of muscles like chest and back on a day or shoulders and arms. Any day you do resistance training do an ab workout that day. Also cardio will burn fat, and consistency is key. Your body is a constant work in progress so it takes time. A solid diet will also speed up the process.

What do you mean by shoulders and arms game? It's a routine I am pretty sure.

I agree. As long as you feel fully recovered by that time you shouldn't have any problem. Otherwise it may affect your chest workout.

I always give at least 48 hours of rest between the two and paid doing both of them on the same day because whatever I do second I cannot do that much weight with.
