Default Question on Pre-Workout Supplements - 04-25-2012, 11:11 PM

Guys - would like your comments on these questions:

Do you take a different pre-workout when you are doing a heavy cardio day as opposed to a heavy lifting day? And if so, what would you look for to differentiate the two different pre-workouts?

Just looking for some thoughts - you guys have been doing it a lot longer than I have, so looking for some thoughts.

Thanks

Hey Alegator!

Naw, i usually stick to one Pre and only use it on lifting days. Since we lift to break down the muscle and influence it to feed on nutrients, i can only justify using a pre on lifting days because most pre's promote blood flow (pump), alertness (focus), etc. All important factors when hitting the weights.

For intense cardio days, i just sip on my BCAAs. No pre workout is needed since cardio's main function is to deplete the body and force your body into using fat reserves for energy. Using a pre, especially a stim based pre, will only heighten your heart rate and make it difficult to restore back to normal after an intense cardio session.

I don't even drink a shake after a cardio only session. No breakdown of muscle tissue means that there is no need for a rebuilding process immediately afterwards.

So, imo, no need for two different pre's and no need to use a pre for cardio.

Hope this helps

Agree fully with Emeka with this one. I take my pre's on lift days and just drink bcaas during my cardio, especially when I do fasted cardio. Although there are times when I do cardio postworkout for which I would have had a pre for the weights, but I guess by the time the cardio rolls around, after the hour workout, its worn off.

When you say quick body building... are you looking to add just sloppy size or lean mass?

We have an amazing product that just released called Freak Maker by EFX.
