Default just arms? - 09-28-2008, 09:16 PM

I'm looking for basically just arm and shoulder strength. Do you guys see any problem with only working one area like that? And should I keep it to about 3 days per week with only working one area?

Thanks folks.

Toddler,

You don't necessarly need to just work biceps to get the benefit of gaining strength in just that area. Same as with your shoulders.

Honestly, you would be better off sticking with compound movements that work secondary muscles as well such as :
Bench presses works triceps as well and also front shoulders
Incline presses works triceps and front shoulders as well.
Deadlifts work upper, lower back primarily and also rear delts traps and biceps
Squats not only work legs but other bodyparts as well.

These are just the major compound movements but doing most back work will also work your biceps. Think of it this way.

If you are doing a pushing movement you are working your triceps and shoulder girdle.

If you are doing a pulling movement you are working your biceps.

Hope this helped.

well put, Mac

Nothing great was ever achieved by being realistic. Most people get scared when setting goals, and ask only for what they think they can get, not what they really WANT. This is a mistake because puny, "realistic" goals are NOT motivating, WANTS are motivating.

I got the shakes that'll make ya quake
I got the fries'll cross ya eyes
I got the burgers....
Well, man, I just got burgers!

Thanks,

I just think sometimes when some people just want overall strength we over look that the basics do just as well all around in building strength in all bodyparts.
