Default Sharp pain in arm - 12-28-2011, 04:38 PM

On Saturday me and the old man had a friendly arm wrestling game and on Monday I came back from a week break from working out and was starting GVT and I had chest and back that day, I felt the pain but I just pushed through it, the next day I did legs and I felt it again. I feel it throughout my arm but the source is in the lower bicep elbowish Devon. Anyone know what this may be? Is it serious? Should I continue to workout or stop? Help please!

Listen to your body, if it hurts don't do it lol. Let it rest for a bit, stretch it a few times a day, ice at night, maybe try ibuprofen.

Lower bicep-elbow area huh. That's new on me.
Just give it a few days and don't piss it off

that would be a good idea. Let the Doctor make the decision. It could be something as simple as a mild case of Tendonitis which is common right where you are talking about. Just because people think tendonitis is a dull aching pain does not mean it can have some sharp pains as well.

If the tendons get inflamed most of the time they will send those type of signals to your brain and you will feel some sort of shooting pain in that region but just to be safe let your Dr. make that decision then if the Dr. does xray's and sees that what it is you will be better off than just lifting with it anyway.

Whatever it is, I hope it heals soon and you can get back to what you've been doing. Hang in there! Have a happy New Years as well. :D

I now know its something with the triceps. I did 100 reps with my biceps and nothing but then 50 reps with triceps it started hurting. Not that bad though, I think maybe a pulled muscle of somesort. Ill give it the weekend to heal and see how it goes with chest and back on Monday.

Update: did chest and back and had no pain until the very last set. And UT was a minor annoying pinch but other than that I'm good! 1 1/2 week rest did the trick!

What type of doc did this for you? General practitioner or specialist? I've screwed my elbow up (from trimming trails) and it really messed up my chest day. It's my outer elbow (triceps tendon). *Shawn, I apologize and don't at all mean to hijack this thread, but loosely related.

I had the same issue, doc said it was tennis elbow and just recommended rest. Took a while to feel better, and it will still hurt if I go heavy on hammer curls. It's hard to rest it though
