Default Bottles stained with smell - 03-29-2012, 01:32 PM

Okay guys, so I forgot i had a few shaker cups in my car and I finally bring them in. They were in there for about 3 weeks....along time i know. And worse they had milk in them....now that i washed them and everything they still all have a very strong rotten milk smell....is that permanent? or do i need to wash them a few more times?

For the worst of worst smells. I'd boil them in a large pot, then I keep them in the freezer when not in use

I would think it would come out unless for some reason the plastic retains the smell which some plastics can. My fiance does it with her coffee thermoses all the time but it usually comes out.

bleach water is good for removing odors in plastics. Once you let it set overnight like that, then run it through the dishwater. Bleach dissipates, but it takes the smells with it. Should smell like new when you've done all that.

never fail method and read it in some mag like 3 years ago.

Wash as normal (sink, dish washer etc...), take news paper (not a ton) and fill the shaker with it and cap. Let sit for 2 days

rewash and golden. I've used this method at least 6 times.

Dude I have a friend who uses the same bottle for everything...and he never washes it. Pretty sure he needs a biohazard sticker for that thing. Lol

Or take water lemon and course salt shake and shake let sit and them wag as normal. This is done with coffee canisters. May work, worth a try. Good luck.

That is surprising! I've made things smell like new with this method before. [scratches bald head]
