Wow man! How much do you weigh? And from the looks of the pic in your avi, I guess you have competed before.

I have been meaning to post my diet for a while. This is what it looks like for this week.

Meal 1:Cherrios,skim milk,banana,eggs(2 whole, 2 whites)

Meal 2: Chicken sandwich on whole wheat bun with bbq sauce, apple, almonds, and baked chips

Meal 3: Whey protein in skim milk with 2 pop tarts

Workout

PWO Shake: Gatorade,BCAA's,Creatine

Meal 4: Whey Protein, Whole Wheat Bagels, Banana, Almonds

Meal 5: 2 1/2 cups brown rice, lean steak, and some more almonds

Meal 6: Weight Control Oatmeal(Rick got me eating these, they are really good) with Peanut Butter and Whey Protein

The serving sizes are made to fit my macros for each meal. I weigh everything. I also use a lot of almonds. I use them because it is real easy to get enough fat in each of my meals by supplementing them. I was running into a problem where I could easily get in the carbs, but not the fat so I use the almonds to make up for that.

All of this takes me to about 4,300 calories each day!

Thanks for posting the diet thing Matt! Looks good...but I don't think I could lose at my ripe old age and obviously slower metabolism on that diet. But heck, it looks like it's working great for you.

Oh and on the oatmeal. They stopped carrying that around here for some reason. This is what I do now. I buy whole oatmeal (plain), nuke about a 1/3 of a cup or so, put a dash of Equal sweetener, and about a teaspoon (probably less) of sugar free log cabin maple syrup. It is every bit as good imo and much cheaper. There is still bad stuff in the syrup, but as little as I put in it, it adds just the right about of maple flavoring.

I do have a fast metabolism Rick and I am able to get away with more than others might. However, with that being said when it comes to losing weight while in a caloric deficit, food choices really for MOST people becomes a moot point. For one GI doesnt mean crap unless you are diabetic or deal with blood sugar problems(Like hypoglycemia in your case) then you have to plan and make choices that work for you. Remember the Glycemic index is taken with just those carbs. You are going to be altering it when you combine protein and fats. I know I seem to bring this point up a lot, but it just seems like a lot of people I talk to think you HAVE to have chicken and veggies in order to get lean and its simply not the case. Also all the talk about insulin spikes and having to eat "Lower GI Foods" while on cut is overanalyzed. If you are taking in less calories and have to use the food you are eating for energy how is it going to wreck a diet? Now whole gain or wheat foods will help keep you full and you still need to get in enough fiber, but besides that it doesnt matter a whole lot. If you like white rice and want to have it, then by all means go ahead. Figure out how much protein, carbs, and fat you need for each meal, hit those numbers and you will lose weight!! I'm starting to ramble so i'll stop for now haha

Great info Matt! I'll have to look around and see what type of studies I can find on this matter. Since I've seemed to get a handle on my diet (in a loose fashion) and it's working, I've taken a much larger interest on this matter! Thanks!

Upper Power:
Incline DB-90x5,90x5,90x5
Close Grip Bench-185x5,225x5,225x5

The mind and the body are interrelated: what you do to one necessarily effects the other. There must be a balance between the two. If your body is strong but your mind is weak, you are a powerful instrument with no direction; such an instrument rarely produces good. If your mind is strong but your body is weak, then you may be filled with purpose and good intentions but have no strength necessary to act on your impulses. You must strengthen your mind to control your body; and strengthen your body so you can always follow the good directions of your mind.
