Default Baseball stretches? - 04-07-2008, 02:35 PM

Hey all, its baseball/softball season again and I've got a question. Every year, no matter how well I stretch, I always get pain in my throwing arm. Its focused mainly in the lower arm but travels as high as the mid upper arm. Its definitely from throwing I believe, but is there any sort of stretching that I can do that will prevent this?

Sometimes its so bad that I cant lift the next day.

sounds like you have one of the "itis" issues. Hard to say which one though. Do OTC pain meds help?

strecthing is very crucial to a throwing arm. It would be better to consult a therapist as to what strecthes you need to be doing. There are so many underlying muscle issues in the shoulder that doing the wrong stretch could actuall make things worse.

Basic stretches like windmills are good warmup.

Doing internal, and external rotations will help warm up the inside of your shoulder to begin with.
