Default Critical OffSeason Components! - 10-24-2011, 09:15 AM

Tis' the season to grow!!!!

So what are the most important factors to growing as much muscle as possible in the offseason!???
I will touch a few and let you guys add from there.
I would love to arrange these by importance, but to me these are so very very strongly important that I don't know which one would go first.

CARDIO!!!
I URGE YOU TO READ THIS CAREFULLY!
This is the best advice I have on this list!!!
How the heck can you grow muscle if you can't work out hard enough to work your muscles the way they need to be worked? Do you think getting exhausted before your muscles do is a good thing. Heck no it isn't.
Remember you are an athlete!!
Alot of people say they are stronger while they are dieting than in the offseason. Let me tell you.. that should never be the case. They are stronger because their cardio/endurance is up and they are at a lighter bodyweight!
  • Cardio will keep your metabolism fired up so you can process important nutrients efficiently!
  • Cardio boosts testosterone levels and GH levels!
  • Cardio keeps you lean!
  • Cardio keeps your endurance very high!

I do a ton of cardio offseason. Main high intensity basketball and long distance skateboarding and I couldn't see doing without it!!

Testosterone Levels!
Earlier this year while contest dieting I had my tet levels checked.
Normal test levels for an adult male is 300 - 1,200 nanograms per deciliter of blood.
Guess what mine was???
300!
Not too high. Wasn't too happy.
Because of that revelation, it has never been more important to my offseason plan to increase my test levels!!

Protein, Protein, Pro-figgin-tein!

It has been said "A man with an experience is never at the mercy of a man with an arguement." In every day street corner venacular that means, I don't care what you say, I know thru experience, and I am telling you this.....the more protein you eat the more muscle you will grow.
Last year during bulk up I made it a point to eat as much protein as possible. I did and I grew the best ever!!

BCAAs
As simple as this sounds, I will tell you why this is such an important!
BCAAs bypass your liver and do 2 things...go straight to your muscle to repair them and provide energy for them. Take them in between meals, before, during, and immediately after workouts AND cardio sessions.
You can get them cheap. I take Dymatize BCAA Complex 2200 all the time. I pop these things like tic tacs. (They are way friggin bigger than tic-tacs).
Sometimes I will take them in the middle of the night. I fill a pill case full of them with fat burners and put them in my wife's purse when we go places.
Guess what? If you can't get to food right away, they are better than a sharp stick in the eye!!

What is your story and what do you think is most important??

Thanks Emeka!!

Yeah water is critical. The more you drink the more carbs you will hold and store.
Dang I am hungry!
