Decide to give the FST-7 workout a try today and what a pump! I am thinking of keeping this in my chest workouts and see how it responds. I need to bring up my chest and this way I can get the heavy pressing done at the beginning of the workout and then just focus of getting a good pump and plenty of blood into the muscle.
10 Degree Incline-185x12,195x10,205x10 Incline DB-85x7,85x7,85x6 Flat DB-80x12,90x12 Low Incline Cable Crossovers-7 sets of 70x10 with 30 seconds between sets I went a little lighter today and stopped a couple reps shy failure because of my shoulder. I took the weekend off and iced it and took some nsaids. It is feeling alot better this week. I have very little pain when doing actual movements, I could definetly work through it but I have decided to take the smart and logical route for once haha. I have an appointment with a sports doctor on friday and i'm gonna have him look at. I am hoping he will give me a little stronger anti-inflammatory or a cortisone shot. I figure he will either have me take next week off or possibly do active rest and do some pt exercises. Either way i'm just going to go ahead and take the time to get to 100% and do whatever the doc says. I dont want to risk further injury down the road when I could have taken a little time off and been fine. I know you guys know how hard it is and its gonna be tough, but a week and a half out of the gym is going to kill my gains. I'm gonna try and keep the calories really clean so that I dont have to worry about having to cut anytime soon. I'll hit legs tomorrow and that way I at least hit everything this week. If i'm cleared to I do some leg ext and stuff like that a couple times next week, do see a problem with this. No squats or anything that will put pressure on the shoulder though.

I meant to post at the beginning of my thread what I am trying to accomplish before my next show. So heres a couple:
Of course number one is just overall mass. I weighed in at the top of my class so that means I should be in the middleweight class at my shows next year. The bad thing about this is the class goes up to about 174 and I weighed in at 156. So to be competitive in the class I need to try and come in at least 10lbs heavier and in even better condition. Secondly after talking to the judges one of the biggest things I was told to work on was my poses from the side(Chest,Tricep). They said I see to be thin in these poses and kinda disappear. I definetly agree with them and knew side chest worse one of my worst poses. So a big concern is trying to get thicker in the chest. Even getting my arms to grow would help in this pose as well. I've attached a pic below from tonight to have a comparison with a little later in the bulk. The only other things I feel really need some work are my calves and hamstrings. I am going to go back to hitting calves 2-3 times a week. Going heavy for lower reps in the 6-8 rep range and even going all the way up 100 rep sets. This is what I was doing when my calves were the biggest(Measley 17in haha). So I figure I would go back to what works. I have thought about putting a couple of lighter higher reps sets of hamstrings at the end of my back workout and working them twice a week. However, for now I will just stick with once a week.

Oh I am bro. Limited on what I can do. Just going to stick to really high frequency and less weight. Probably do legs 3 times a week.

Hit legs again today for the third time. I have been hitting them 3 times a week. One workout focused on quads, another hams, and then the last calves. I still have good vascularity and weigh the same as pre-surgery so not much muscle lost so far, besides the arm I had operated on from the immobolization. Today was quad focus
5 sets leg extensions superset with 5 sets Seated Leg Curls 6 sets Leg press(Worked up to almost the stack on the machine so strength is still their after the time off) 5 sets seated Calf raises Therapy is going good with the shoulder. I went from not being able to do external/internal rotations very good and was shaky to knocking out 50 reps with ease today in just a week! Does not sound like much but I was pretty stoked about it. My pt said I started the surgery from a good point and my range of motion is looking like it will come back really quick. We get to get more aggressive next week after the repair has had time to heal.

Strength is pretty much back it seems like in the legs after the past two weeks. I did the stack on the leg press machine for a couple sets of 15 easy reps. I should be able to start doing hammer strength squats again soon.
I saw the doc yesterday and physical therapist this morning again. Everything is going great with recovery. I should have full range of motion in another 3-4 weeks. Back doing light upper body in 6 weeks.

I did 1 pound curls in rehab today, watch out ronnie coleman! haha. Shoulder is doing really good and I should have full range of motion in another week or two. Looks like I will be back in the gym doing upper body with high reps and lighter weights in another 4 weeks. Weight is still holding at pretty much the same and I still dont feel I have lost very much muscle except in the arm that had surgery(Which was to be expected). On a good note, I think I have been able to bring up my calves during the time I have had off. I have been hittting legs 2-3x a week.

Well glad you are feeling okay and very good you are taking advantage of this time to work on lower body.
Just curious since you are a natural, do you sometimes feel like 3x a week is a bit much for recovery. Not sure since you are slightly younger than me but I don't think my recovery rate would allow more than twice. |

Quote:
Not all days are to failure or training heavy. Here is what I have been doing Day 1 Heavy Quads (Probably 10 sets) Light Direct Work for Hamstrings(Only 4 sets, just getting a pump is all) 5 sets of Calves stopping a rep or two shy of failure(I like supersetting with strectches for the calves) Day 2 Off Day 3 Light Leg Ext (4-5 sets just pump) Heavy Direct Work for Hamstrings(About 8 sets) 4-5 sets of calves again not to failure Day 4 Off Day 5 Light Leg Ext Light Hamstrings Heavy Calf Sets(10 sets) As you can see I am technically hitting the muscles 3 times a week, but the volume and training intensity is controlled. Also these are the only workouts I am doing so that is another reason why I definetly dont feel I am overtraining. But to answer your question, yes I do feel that naturals can train bodyparts twice a week and grow very well with that! I just think volume and intensity need to be cycled. You will be sore for the first couple weeks, but after that most people will make the adaptations and be fine with twice a week training. It does bring up a good topic for discussion though!
