Default Update

Strength is pretty much back it seems like in the legs after the past two weeks. I did the stack on the leg press machine for a couple sets of 15 easy reps. I should be able to start doing hammer strength squats again soon.

I saw the doc yesterday and physical therapist this morning again. Everything is going great with recovery. I should have full range of motion in another 3-4 weeks. Back doing light upper body in 6 weeks.

I did 1 pound curls in rehab today, watch out ronnie coleman! haha. Shoulder is doing really good and I should have full range of motion in another week or two. Looks like I will be back in the gym doing upper body with high reps and lighter weights in another 4 weeks. Weight is still holding at pretty much the same and I still dont feel I have lost very much muscle except in the arm that had surgery(Which was to be expected). On a good note, I think I have been able to bring up my calves during the time I have had off. I have been hittting legs 2-3x a week.

Well glad you are feeling okay and very good you are taking advantage of this time to work on lower body.

Just curious since you are a natural, do you sometimes feel like 3x a week is a bit much for recovery. Not sure since you are slightly younger than me but I don't think my recovery rate would allow more than twice.

I definetly think you can train bodyparts twice a week!!

Not all days are to failure or training heavy. Here is what I have been doing
Day 1
Heavy Quads (Probably 10 sets)
Light Direct Work for Hamstrings(Only 4 sets, just getting a pump is all)
5 sets of Calves stopping a rep or two shy of failure(I like supersetting with strectches for the calves)

Day 2 Off

Day 3
Light Leg Ext (4-5 sets just pump)
Heavy Direct Work for Hamstrings(About 8 sets)
4-5 sets of calves again not to failure

Day 4 Off

Day 5
Light Leg Ext
Light Hamstrings
Heavy Calf Sets(10 sets)

As you can see I am technically hitting the muscles 3 times a week, but the volume and training intensity is controlled. Also these are the only workouts I am doing so that is another reason why I definetly dont feel I am overtraining. But to answer your question, yes I do feel that naturals can train bodyparts twice a week and grow very well with that! I just think volume and intensity need to be cycled. You will be sore for the first couple weeks, but after that most people will make the adaptations and be fine with twice a week training. It does bring up a good topic for discussion though!

I see Matt! Definitely split far enough apart for the harder days. Keep it up and keep us posted on your progress!
