Some of you know I missed out on a sweet deal that Leigh was kind enough to share with us. It got me to thinking of the benefits of having such. If I miss a workout at the gym, I won't be pissed because I can make it up at home. Plus my son(s) will have access to much more. Can't tell y'all how excited I am about building this! It's going to be pieced together and purchased without charging anything.

Currently have a cheap incline/flat/decline bench with dumbells through 35lbs. 1 olympic EZ curl bar with 50lbs of plates. (this stuff was mainly for my 12yr old and will be adding to the dumbells. I will be building a rack myself for the dumbells.

I have 2 olympic barbells on order with 600lbs of rubber encased plates. Will have a total of 650lbs of plates when it arrives (currently back ordered...doh!)

I just did place an order for a power cage (pictured below) through IPYU. It also will have the ability to accept the additional Lat/cable row attachment (will order later) as shown in this pic:
http://www.illpumpyouup.com/catalog/PPR200big.gif

I'm pumped! :D:D:D

Plan on adding a bench with leg attachment & preacher curl bench. Then whatever else I get the urge for.

Oh yeah, I don't know what my wife is going to think when this blonde is shipped. I'll convince her it's my cardio :p

Cheers!
Rick

My cage arrived at the office today! Time to start assembling and cleaning that freakin' cluttered garage. My weights and bars are supposed to be in tomorrow. The blonde must be back ordered.

LG: I'll take some pics, but it might be a little while. The cleaning of my garage is my biggest hurdle. It's actually not so bad, but I'm out of room to put anything. The storage building is full and so is the attic. Wifey and I are packrats!

RoaringMad Mac

Okay, here's a couple quick pics. I'll do more as the gym grows and the garage is in better shape. I don't need any crap about the rainbow colored plates or my cluttered garage dammit :D:D

Cool, I almost forgot to say I ordered my stand for the Power block, now I don't have to pick those 130's from the floor anymore.

VERY Nice Mac! I think those power blocks will have to be added to my gym someday!

RoaringMad Mac
08-17-2007, 11:07 AM
You would love them. They are taking some breaking in because they are new, they tend to stick together when you go over 90 pounds. I have a rubber mallet that solves that problem. :) I could not ask for anything better in dumbbells.

RickB
08-17-2007, 11:19 AM
Maybe try some powder dusted on the parts (?).

Received the lat bar/low bar station today from IPYU/Body Solid to add to the power rack. And let me say, this thing is way better quality than I had imagined. It is very smooth and seems very solid! Also received a tricep bar attachment for some push downs!

A few more attachements and we'll have all kinds of movements to add to our home arsenal! Rockin' baby!

Yeah, I'm REALLY hurting for space right now too. My Granddad is moving and is giving me a lot of his stuff plus storing things for him. He used to build airplanes as a hobby and until he moved here two years ago has always had a shop & hangar with a runway on his property. He no longer flies and said he's not going to need these tools anymore. He gave me a cutting torch rig, upright air compressor and a TON of tools. I'm also storing his table saw and pressure washer.

So home workouts are going to be hindered for a bit, but that's ok because Adam will be working out and playing football @ school.

RoaringMad Mac
09-06-2007, 09:45 AM
awhhhhh man actually that would be cool to have a cutting torch and upright air compressor. I was going over something in my head on my preacher bench this morning, My Preacher bench pad is to narrow to me and I was looking at the fram and was thinking to myself how and if I could actually extend the frame a little wider to support my shoulders.

I know what you mean as well. I was at Play it again sports yesterday and purchased a standard straight bar for some of the weights I have that are standard. I still really want a Combo Hack squat, Leg press that I could fit. I would also like to have some type of cable machine but that is going to have to wait I am afraid. I am tryingto keep the spaced from getting to cramped. That is something I don't want to have happen is to have equipment right on top of each other.

Leigh
09-06-2007, 10:29 AM
Rick, want for space no more: I will 'store' all your Granddad's stuff for you, free of charge! ...and you won't have to worry about it rotting and rusting. It will be put to good use. Let me know if he gives you any woodworking stuff. I'll have to outright steal that - I won't even go through the charade of saying I'll 'borrow' or 'store' it. LOL

Here's the last plane my Granddad built for my Dad (RV6-A):
http://i102.photobucket.com/albums/m110/BeerAngel/MVC-110F.jpg

Although I love to fly, I had always wished that he were into hot rods instead of airplanes. He was a hell of a craftsman! He's 81 now and in good health, but his fingers have too much arthritis to do this stuff anymore.

RoaringMad Mac
09-06-2007, 10:51 AM
Cool, I would love to go up in something like that. My first plane ride ever was in small plane like that.

RickB

Update: The garage has a bit more space. My Granddad is taking back his upright compressor, pressure washer, and table saw, but leaving me with everything else. I'm just about over being bummed that he moved away, but glad he relocated in Waco (instead of Brownwood...too far!) which is only a couple hours away.

My Dad was in charge of my birthday present this year and got me a new Craftsman small upright compressor. Much better than the really small horizontal unit I was using!

Also, Jennifer tried to pull a sneaky and have her aunt order my Christmas gift....but auntie had it shipped to our house. Jennifer was in Dallas shopping the day it arrived and I check the front door to find a really big heavy box and a smaller box that went with it. The box was mostly brown, but I couldn't help but to see a drawing of this on the side of the box:
http://www.illpumpyouup.com/catalog/ROM-LELCbig.gif

This is going to be great and I'm thrilled that Adam will have more equipment at home now too! Next on the want list is a preacher seat!
:MJwoohoo!:

Before long you will be quitting the gym and people in your neighborhood will be coming to your house to train.

RickB
12-18-2007, 04:13 PM
I won't be quitting the gym. I workout with friends/co-workers and the company pays my membership. I like it that way and I like having backup at home as well as Adam & Mason having access to good stuff.

Yes, Mac they are.

And yeah, I don't like leaving the mower under the carport. We live in a very peaceful neighborhood (except for our boys) with practically no thru traffic, but I'm paranoid.

My next purchase is to replace my current bench. I want a fully adjustable incline/decline/flat bench that has the option for a leg attachment.

Although I have a seated leg extension/curl machine, I need (ok...want) a lying extension/curl option to better fit the STS training.

I will entertain all option as long as it looks like what my primary goal is. And that is that it is a sturdy, yet fairly basic bench when the leg attachment is removed. Any suggestions are appreciated!

http://bodybuildingequipment.ericsgym.com/legextensioncurl/powerline/index.htm

I like the design of this one. Some of the machines load the weight from the side and it is harder for the leg closest to the weight. Iím not sure if this one is built sturdy enough for somebody as strong as you.

Iím really not too fond of machines like this (I have been avoiding isolation exercises) and might look to other exercises, but the machine you posted is awesome for blasting calves.

RickB
04-02-2008, 04:33 PM
Kick, it doesn't look like that one will lay flat. What I'm looking for primarily is an adjustable incline/flat/decline bench with optional leg attachment. The leg part is secondary, but I would like one to give me the laying leg exercise option as well as the seated that I already have. And also very important, is the ease of removal of the leg attachment because it will be used mainly for bench routines.

Thanks!

edit: Oh Kick! And shame on you for plugging another site when IPYU sells the same thing for less.

Sorry Man, on the other site, and I owe you some pictures. It will happen soon I have to get through teaching a class on CAD/CAM this weekend and things will start to flow. I even have plans for my outdoor home gym. It is simple and maybe a little weird but it is guaranteed to provide blood sweat and tears.
Time for cardio got to go.
