I am retired and have all day to workout. Is this a good idea or should I keep it to just an hour plus cardio? I ain't skeered!

Hey n2jss
Ive been retired for little over five years and exercise continuously. Ive done 2-3-4-5 day splits and full-body workouts throughout the years. These are usually 4-6-8-10 week programs that I do with a lot of variants and I take a week off after each program. Heres my secret to a good workout:
<?:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />
I make sure I have a night time protein shake and good nights sleep.
Up at 5:00am.
I w/o at home in the early a.m., between 6-7:30.
I take my supps w/ adequate time before my w/o.
Have my pre-planned routine ready to go, along w/ water mixed w/ a carbohydrate complex, towel and chalk.
Turn my radio on to good EZ listening jazz.
Do my routine w/all the intensity I can.
Try to keep my w/os under an hour.
Try to eat clean as I can.
Plenty of water, Vitamins, Protein shakes and Omega oils throughout the day.
Adequate rest between w/os.
There are times when I awake and dont feel like exercising but, once I get going Im fine. It seems when I have these off days of not wanting to workout, thats when I seem to have my best w/os.

Sounds like great advice. Thank you for the info. I should be able to use this as a good start. I do try to be up at 5:00 am everyday, sometimes hit snooze for half an hour. I get plenty of water,multi-vitamins,protein, and good food. It's the training I have the most trouble with because of severe soreness. I become very sore just after a long walk. I'm looking into alleviating this problem but finding answers is hard. Once again thanks for the info.

Good advice jram:
doing split days are terriffic if you have the time.
I would do my cardio first thing in the morning to burn fat and train in the early afternood to keep lean muscle mass.
The time in between I would sleep and tan.
ahhhhh sounds like a dream right. LOOOOOL http://www.illpumpyouup.com/forum/smileys/smiley32.gif

not aware of your exact age, have you ever had your testosterone levels
checked by an endocrinologist?
