Some of you were on last evening and I made no secret that I was drinking beer..I knew today was leg day but as always when i drink i think i'll be fine the next day..Well I wake up this morning and don't feel to bad...I decide even though it's leg day that i will do some cardio..Well since it's 4:30 am I ride my recumblent bike which is not in the weightroom but in my living rm..

So I ride for 1hr 7 min's while watching last night of two and a half men..So now cardios done and I have my first meal..this will be 8oz of cold water, 2 scoops of whey and a half cup raw oats..Then I decide to post for a spell and then have my 2nd meal..this is 8 egg whites, 3 whole omega 3 eggs and 6 oz of red potato done in pam..

Now another 1.5 hrs goes by and and it's time for legs..First exercise will be STS training of 5 sets of leg presses done on a 45 degree incline..It will consist of 8 reps, 4 reps, 8 reps and 12 reps..So guess what..On the last set my legs give out and down comes the weight throwing my knees in my face..Tomorrow i will look in the mirror to see just how black my eyes are..

Folks don't do as I do but as I say..Don't do cardio on leg day especially if it's using modstly your legs like bike riding..If you want to do cardio on leg day do it 20 min's after your workout.

I have no facts to back the following up..I was in my weightroom doing cardio right after Lifting and heard the following on KNX a Los Angeles news channel..

It said for those looking to lose fat, to do cardio the following way..It is to be divided into two sessions 20 minutes apart...It said if you do 1 hr of cardio a day to do 30 mins take a 20 min break and complete the remainding 30 mins. It said that this would result in a 20% additional fat loss over doing 1 hr straight..It said it also applied to those who lift weights..Lift your weights, take a 20 min break and then do your cardio..

I have done this now for the past month and I do see a difference..I like to see others do this and report on their findings.

I sorta believe in this concept of cardio. That is why I am making sure I break up cardio between morning and afternoon. I think it keeps your metabolism reived up high and burning fast.

I also believe I read somewhere that the oxygen levels in you body are somehow elivated and that keeps burning calories at a maximum. Or something to that effect.

true story. generally, after exercise, you metabolism is revved up a bit due to Excess Post-Exercise Oxygen Consumption (EPOC). The higher the intensity of the exercise, the higher the EPOC.

So, basically, it's better to get out of the gym and do cardio later. I believe the study found that muscle growth improved.

this has alot to do with sugar (glycogen stores and available glucose). if your burn through all your sugar (and weight-lifting uses primarily sugar for fuel), your body will breakdown protein to make sugar.

This leads to a lower metabolism and, obviously, slows down progress in muscle building.

But, don't quote me on this. If I had a dime for every study I read...

oh, you've been quoted! :D

Yeah, I knew I had read about EPOC.

Interesting, I've always gone from lifting straight to cardio. Maybe now I'll have to tan or something and then come back to cardio after a 20 min break.
