I'm going to put my new found obsession to good use for people other than myself. On April 11th I'm going to participate in the first ever 24 hour Relay for Life in Mississippi to raise money for the American Cancer Society. We have a team put together of family and friends so we can rotate out on walking and resting since it's a 24 hour deal. Have any of you guys ever done anything like that? If anybody wants to sponsor us or make a small donation to the American Cancer Society, send me a message and we can work out the details. I hope to have all of your support and I'm not talking about the monitary kind either. (although that would be cool to if your able ;))

Going on a 5K MS Walk (not nearly a 24 hour thing though) this Saturday in Dallas. My wife has done it for a few years due to losing a family member to it. Who knows what this may spark in me....I'm excited to do it.

I'm really looking forward to it. I know I can't walk for 24 hours but just the feeling of being able to contribute where normally I wouldn't is exciting to me.

Cool Drake

If you want, Go to Pay pal and set up an account and we will put up a link to it here. Explain what you are doing and people can donate from there.

I am throwing Rick under the bus here.

Get with Rick he has made an account like this in the past and we have put it up.

I will go on to say that people can really trust you with this as well. This is a good cause.

Drake, let me know if you want the instructions on how to do it. If you do and go through the process, you will have to PM me the html code so I can make a post for you for others to click on to donate.

THis is going to be the first 24 hour relay in the state. They've been doing 12hours for a while. I'm shooting for at least 12 hours but not straight. I've been nominated the cook for our team. (they just don't know how healthy I've started cooking.....HAHAHAHA)

Alright everyone. It's about that time. I got my pedometer, sneakers and water bottles. I don't think I'll be able to walk for the straight 24 hours but I'm gonna give it hell. I've got my IPYU shirt ready to show off too. I'll hopefully post some pics and give updates Sunday. I like y'all alot but come 6 pm Saturday the only thing on my mind is gonna be my BED!!! CYA on the flip side!

Well, the 24 hour Relay was an experience I'll never forget. I think we either needed more team members or they should stick to the 12 hour Relays. I'm not complaining cause it was for a great cause and too see all the survivors there walking too was amazing, but fatigue kicked our butts. I didn't get to walk as much as I wanted to because I got peanut boiling duties dumped on me at 4 o'clock Friday so that was a challenge since I've never boiled peanuts a day in my live. (Tip from the chef: if you can't buy green peanuts and you don't have time to soak dried peanuts for at least 8 hours pre cooking. DON'T try it. It takes forrrrrreverrrrrrr to boiled peanuts that have already dried out and have been presoaked.)

I walked a total of 8 miles in the 5 times I was able to hit the track. I don't know how long I was on each time but I do know the longest I stayed on was 1.5 hours. My team thought I was crazy but if it had not been for new fitness obsession, I wouldn't have been able to do that. Thanks for keeping me in check guys!!!! Me and my wife both wore our IPYU T-shirts while we were walking for some great advertising.

Long story short. It was a great event we just all got fatigued. It was poor planning on our part not the Relay!!

Everybody that ate them said they were great. I several people saying they were better than another team that was selling and one lady kept coming back to buy more. I as the chef though, thought they could have been better. They had a great taste, just didn't seem soft enough. Different strokes for different folks!!!
