I can't make my mind up which one though. There is a sale going on right now at my local shop where we get this stuff and he is selling the combo for 650. it is used but you know how these things retain their value. they normally go for over a grand.

The powerTec is a great pieace of equipment as well. I am just waiting to see what my in laws will say and I told them I will pay the differance if they did not want to spend that much.

What do you think I should get ???

I've never used one that you didn't push with your shoulders, so I don't know what the powertec would feel like. I suppose it would allow you to focus more on legs alone and not exerting much energy at all with the core. I might go for the powertec for that reason.

But that said, I like 'em both!

Good Anaology, I never really looked at it that way.

See I see Matt looking at it too and I want your opinion since you will be one of the primary people using it as well.

I haven't used either one of them so I cant really comment. I agree with Rick and I guess would lean towards the powertec. I do feel both would work very well though, I guess it would be which one you felt more comfortable with.

The butt ones suck. Makes you feel wobbily, unstable cause your using your lower back for leverage instead of your shoulders and full back. Or at least for me it does and excessive knee pain with the butt one too. I say on the shoulders for sure.

It could be time for you to get a walker and join us old guys ;)

That makes sense what you said though. I thought maybe you could change the angle of the back rest to spread the pressure even between your butt and back(?). Maybe not though....like I say, never used one like that before.

Actually Rick, I started running again 1 mile a day at 6 mph on the treadmill and the knees feel GREAT now!! Quads are liking it too. Lower back is having a hard time after 1 mile, so that is why I am not going further. But the MCL and ankles feel great and seem to be getting stronger the more I do it. The angle and such of that machine si just weird compared to traditional machines at the shoulder and full back.

omaha you have long legs though right? That would be a problem with you long leg guys I would think.

You would think that if you loved this

you would like the powerTec all except the the shoulder braces. From the reviews I have read about it they say it is not whobbly at all.

i agree, and the more weight you put on the worse it gets.

The reason I like the supersquat is that it does not ride on 2 poles, but pivots from one point while working. That design sucks on the butt/LB hack squat. The leverage is not there and the thing tends to go up uneven and have a rocking effect to it on the butt/lower back driven model. Where as the shoulder style hits from two points rather then one to even out the load on the body, that and the pressure of your body against the back plate keeps it glued to the tracks while working. No rocking or unevenness. IMO of course. Just look at the picture on how it rides on two poles. The thing is not gonna be steady, I speak from experience.

Now look at the how the other one moves in the c-beams on the side of the structure. Very solid and can take heavy loads which you know you'll be pushing. Actually I am not to crazy about where the plates go on this one but, it should still work better.

Golds Gym use to have one of these here. I loved the hell out of this one. It was so freaking studry, and you could load it up huge. The one on the left. Then again that is a leg press. lol

I like how the weights are up beside the head on this one instead of underneath wher it could possibly hinder the motion.

PowerTec is a very good brand. I am very pleased with my Multigym.I just don't use the Leverage squat as much mainly because it mimics a leg press IMO. I did not build my legs off of Leg Presses. I built them off of Heavy Squats and Hack squats.

Now I know some of you have stated that the Leg Sled does not look that good but after doing some extensive research on it I decided to go with it. I also have 90 days to try it out and if I don't like it I can return it. That helps alot. Pain in the ass to ship back but I think I will like it.

Here is what I am getting ( It's been a good Christmas for ole Mac.) I need to thank the Good Lord Everyday for this stuff.

I am also getting the PowerTec Utility Bench. The Bench I have now only Inclines and Goes flat. This one Declines and I can also Secure myself in the bench when Declined. It also acts as a Leg Extension and Leg Curl. How cool is that.

Id go with the hack squat because its more natural looking lol all that weight centered on your butt deosnt seem like it would target the leg muscles the way a squat or legpress really would. Go with the classic hack.

Putting on weight on the hack will use your spine as a column for holding the weight which is good but the other one just uses your legs and it seems kind of awkward lol i dunno i vote hack.

Well, just got through putting the Leg Sled together. Moves really good. I tested it up to 315 for the time being. Feels nice.

To make the angle harder you adjust the back of the seat and push accordingly the pictures you see have it pressing in the form of a leg press making it easier. The Further back you lay the seat the more of a hack squat you put yourself into position. I left the 315 weights on it to kinda settle since I tightened all the bolts and crap. It was kind of a bitch to put together but nothing like the multi gym. Glad I have it. Omaha you should try this feels good on the legs.

I love it. Free towels (not many gyms do this as a courtesy item with the membership), locks are a courtesy on all the lockers, hair dryers, hand towels, indoor and outdoor pool have tornado type slides for the kids, huge rock climbing room for the kids, TONS of cardio, all new top of the line equipment in free weight and cable equipment..... The place is great.
