Hi guys I have been helping my girlfriend work out. I wanted to make sure I am teaching her right be for I get her too far and lost in something that is wrong. She wants to loose about 20lbs i think. She won't tell me how much she weighs.. ( what women would). She is not really big.. she is about 5'11'' and if i had to guess she is 160lbs. I have her doing 3-4 sets of 15reps with lighter weight, targeting all major body parts. Shes eating well and doesn't need to much help with that.. however any diet tips would be great. She knows she needs to do Cardio however she was in an accident and really messed up her knees so running is out of the question. she can only run about 13 mins before she gets in a lot of pain and she shouldn't be doing that!
So to sum it up:
Whats good cardio without killing the knees, proper eating, and proper weight training to loose about 20 lbs.
Thanks guys.

Any type of Precor is good if she has knee pain. Regular walking is also good as well too. Riding a bike is also a good choice. If you are in a gym the precor or Cybex trainer is the best bet.
Of course you know diet is one of the major keys here as well. Make out a list of exactly you are having her doing as far as weights go.
Cardio and diet should be the biggest keys here.

Yes, Cardio and Diet are the building blocks to any fitness program. 1/2 hour of cardio 4 to 5 days a week and Clean protien, and complex carbs. No Soda(pepsi) or anthing like that. Milk can also be bad if drinkin in larg amounts, There is lots of Surgar in Milk,. 1 gallon of water a day.
Its all up to you though, we can give you advice till we are blue in the face. But you just have to find out what works for you...

Get her to do some light leg training dont be afraid of the squat. If done with proper technique it puts less stress on the knees than leg extensions.
Lighten the diet a bit and make her eat less carbs at night.

For weights shes doing:
( 3-4 sets 15 reps lighter weight.)
Bench press, arm extension (triceps), preacher curls, seated rows, (back) decline sit ups w/ medicine ball, leg press, leg extension.
I was thinking basic compound movements... ect...
Now im no super trainer... but I think thats what she needs...
Any tips would be good!
Cardio is still an issue. Her knees are getting worse it seems :( She wants to start doing those "Billy Banks" dance/ tibo tapes or what ever... i donno
Thanks

thouse wild ass videos are great for women, my wifes friend got her some 'hiphop abs' video. and she loves jumping around like a schmuk in the living room. she even asked me if i wanted to go dancing =X
....ohh yeah the negative side, she got bored of the video and bought a different one like once a month after that

The problem with some of those video from what you have told us is she will still be bouncing up and down on her feet. It is still going to be hurting her knees.
That is why I suggested the Cybex machine or a Precor machine in most gyms. These are very knee friendly.
